From the Principal

Dear St Anne's Community,

I hope this newsletter finds you all well.

Fun Run

Thank you to everyone that supported our Fun Run this week. It was a great afternoon of exercise, and we appreciate your generosity. Thank you to the businesses that made donations for our raffle. Thank you to Mrs Holland and anyone else that assisted in making the afternoon a success.

Mother’s Day

This is an event I look forward to each year. It is such a good community atmosphere at the breakfast and Liturgy. Thank you to the Infants team for organising and to Noelene Williams for her efforts with the breakfast. We had lots of staff turn up early to ensure the morning ran smoothly and I appreciate their efforts also.

CEO Vinnies Sleepout

Mr Haigh, Ms Jamieson, Mrs Holland, Mrs Coleman, Mrs Collins and Ms Tame will all be sleeping out for this great cause. We will all be sleeping at the Young Railway station on Thursday 20th June. If you are able to donate, we would be very grateful. So far, we have raised a collective $1900.98. Our goal is to raise $4000 as a team.

Term 2 Important Date

A reminder that students finish on Thursday 4th July this term. Friday 5th July is a pupil free day and a professional development day for staff. Thank you for your ongoing support.

HSC Exam Centre

I am pleased to announce that St Anne’s will be holding the HSC Exams on our school grounds this year. This involved an application to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). This is a great result for our senior students and the school. More details will be shared after we work through the finer details.

School Community Council (SCC)

This week, the SCC met for their Week 3 meeting. The SCC meet Week 3 and Week 7 of every school term.

Some of the items discussed:

  • Canapes in the Canola Event- 14th More details will be provided in due course.
  • Garden Viewing- 3 gardens are booked already. We hope to get 3 more. Please pass the word around or consider putting up your own garden for display. Sunday 27th
  • The chest freezer is not sealing properly in the canteen. SCC approved the purchase of a replacement up to the value of $1600. The hot water system was fixed in the canteen.

School Prayer and Song

On the pupil free day at the beginning of this term, staff started the process of developing a school prayer. We intend to go through the same process with students and parents. Eventually, we hope to have a prayer that is suitable for K-12 students and one that they have ownership over. A school song will be the next project after the prayer.

Kindergarten Teacher

Next week, I will send an email to kindergarten parents, announcing Mrs Eberle’s replacement.

Take care,

Grant Haigh
