Marymead CatholicCare Student and Family Counsellor
Student and Family Counsellor Profile
My name is Rebecca McCarthy, and I recently joined Marymead CatholicCare as a Student and Family Counsellor.
I have been a social worker for 12 years, and for the last 10 of those years worked as a Manager Casework in child protection, with a focus on children in out of home care. I live in Cootamundra, with my husband and daughter, we have 3 cows, 3 dogs, 2 rabbits and 2 fish and we love to go caravanning together.
Marymead CatholicCare Student and Family Counsellors provide counselling in Catholic and Independent schools throughout Canberra and regional NSW. The service aims to support students to achieve academic success, psychological health and social and emotional wellbeing.
Students engaged in the service receive 6 to 8 individual therapy sessions which are provided at school. All students who wish to access the service require a current referral and parent/guardian consent must be obtained prior to students engaging in the service. Once a referral has been received, I will contact the parents/guardian to discuss the individual student needs, outline the counselling process and answer any questions you may have.
I am looking forward to supporting the students and families of St. Anne’s and being part of the school community.
If you have any questions or would like to find more, please contact me at rebecca.mccarthy@mccg.org.au or by contacting the school office on Mondays and Tuesdays.
