Principal's Report

Dear St Anne's Community,

Thank you for a great start to the year. It has been really nice to have you all inside the school grounds for various school events, now that the restrictions have eased. This term has been a successful one with some changes to teaching and learning, great team sporting results, individual achievements in representing at  various sporting codes, as well as our facilities. We have seen the excellent results coming out of the Maths Pathways program in Years 7 & 8, the positive switch to phonics instruction in Years K-2 and the completion of the Secondary Renovations. We have so much to look forward to in the months to come and the school is looking in great shape. Please see the Building and Maintenance section for the upcoming planned works.

Registration

As mentioned in the last newsletter, we had our School Registration visit last week. Six panel members spent three days at our school and then provided us with feedback on the last day. An official report will be sent to me in the coming weeks and I look forward to sharing the Commendations, Affirmations and Recomendations that were presented to us. We received glowing feedback overall and I thank the Staff for their contributions towards making it a successful registration.

Staffing

I would like to thanks Mrs Samantha Park for her work with Kindergarten this term. Mrs Park taught Kindergarten every Friday. Mrs Hughes will resume full time work next term and teach Kindergarten Monday-Friday. Mrs Park will now teach Year 4 every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Mrs Kate Harris will teach Year 4 every Monday and Tuesday. We will also welcome back Mrs Jodie Tame from leave.

Long Lunch

Last Saturday, we held the annual St Anne's Long Lunch at the Temora Railway Station. We were blessed with the excellent weather and large numbers. 179 people supported the event and we greatly appreciate this. In total, $7907.91 was raised for the school. This money will go towards improving the playground area. Thank you to Kris Dunstan, Danielle Haigh, Margo Townsend and Georgina Bruest for their work on the Long Lunch committee. We also had lots of support with setting up for the event, which we appreciate as well.

Matthew Gilchrist

Our sincere condolences to Angela and the Gilchrist family on the recent passing of Matthew. We will continue to pray for strength and peace for Angela, Cate, Brooke, Addison and the extended families. Please know that we are here to support in any way we can.

Have a Blessed Easter and enjoy the break.

Take care,

Grant Haigh

“To celebrate Easter is to believe once more that God constantly breaks into our personal histories, challenging our “conventions”, those fixed ways of thinking and acting that end up paralyzing us. To celebrate Easter is to allow Jesus to triumph over the craven fear that so often assails us and tries to bury every kind of hope.”
Pope Francis, Homily, 31st March 2018
