From the Principal

Dear St Anne's Community,

It gives me great pleasure to confirm the details of the letter that was sent home today. St Anne's will be expanding their offering to cater for the entire K-12 Catholic Pathway. In 2023, Year 11 will be offered, followed by Year 12 in 2024. This is very exciting news and we are thrilled that families in Temora do not need to send their children away, to receive a high quality Catholic Education. You will find more information in the letter, which is also further on in this newsletter. This is a significant milestone in the history of the school and we can't wait for you to join us on this journey.

I look forward to speaking about this in more detail with you in the coming days, weeks and months and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

We have had a busy couple of weeks recently with Naplan and various sporting events and excursions. I thank staff and students for their efforts in making these extra-curricular activities a success.

Staff Professional Development

St Anne's staff participated in a number of webinar sessions last week. The Catholic Education Office have provided these professional learning sessions as part of Webinar Week. Webinar Week will run every term this year and it will provide staff with many opportunities to learn, revise and implement.

We have 6 teachers continuing their High Impact Teaching Practices course this term. The teachers will be off to Canberra next week to participate in their next professional learning session.

Pupil Free Day 30th May

Monday 30th May- As mentioned in previous correspondence, Monday 30th May is a Pupil Free day for St Anne's students. Staff will be involved in Professional Learning throughout the day. There will be minimal supervision provided on the day with no learning program in place. We kindly request that you keep your children at home on this day. If this is not possible, please complete the quick survey that was emailed home so that we know how many students to expect. Thank you in advance for your support and understanding.

COVID

A reminder about household contact rules. If your child is a household contact (of a person who has tested positive to COVID) they must wear a mask indoors and notify the school of this. They should monitor closely for symptoms as well.

Enrolments

A warm welcome to Sienna and her family. Sienna is in Year 8 and started with us a couple of weeks ago.

If you know of anyone that is yet to decide on their choice of school for next year, please ask them to contact the school for a no obligation tour with me.

This week, I have had the privilege of being a panel member for registration of St Patrick's Central School in Cooma. As expected, the temperature was much lower than Temora, but I was well prepared. St Patrick's is a wonderful school with a rich tradition and history, much the same as St Anne's. St Patrick's christian values were developed through the influence of the Brigidine sisters when the school was originally built as a convent in 1884.

Uniform Committee

At the recent Community Council meeting, I discussed the need to review our school uniform. Lowes have indicated that they would not stock our uniform if we did not move our entire range to their store. In supporting local business, I would like us to work with Millers to stock our full range of uniform. Additionally, with year 11 and 12 on the horizon, it is important to explore a uniform for them. One that identifies them as senior students. If you would like to be a part of this committee, please email the school and we will add you to the mailing list when we organise the first meeting.

Take care,

Grant Haigh
