From the Principal

Dear St Anne's Community,

I hope that you are all well.

The middle of the term is upon us and students are very settled in their learning. Congratulations to all our students that have represented St Anne's in recent sporting events and carnivals and thank you to our staff that give up their time to support these events.

Long Lunch

If you have not yet booked your tickets for the Long Lunch, I encourage you to follow the link below and book in. You don't need a Table Captain to attend the event. It is a really enjoyable day and such a unique opportunity to sit on a Railway platform, socialise, eat great food and listen to great music.

2022 NAPLAN Results

Recently, MySchools published the 2022 Naplan data for the public to see. We excelled in the following areas when compared with all students nationally:

Year 9 Overall- Placed 7th in the Riverina's best performing schools.

Year 9 Numeracy- Well above

Year 9 Reading, Writing and Grammar- Above

Year 5 Writing and Spelling- Above

This is testament to the quality teaching and learning that is occurring in our school and the dedication to the profession displayed by our staff. I am very excited to witness whole school achievements in the coming years, as we see the fruit from the evidence based High Impact Teaching Practices program we are implementing in our school.

Kindergarten Parent Welcome Evening

Last Friday night, Mrs Holland, Miss Ryan and I held a Kindy parent welcome evening at the Bowling Club. It was a fun night and a great opportunity to welcome our new families to St Anne's. A number of games were organised by Miss Ryan, including "Are you smarter than a kindergarten kid?" and a baby photo guessing competition.

School Fees

This week, Mrs Barrett sent out an email regarding the delay in the school fees letter distribution. I also thank you for your patience and I just wanted to assure you that we are all working at length with Catholic Education to have these sent out to you as soon as possible. The new finance system we started using at the beginning of the year has provided some challenges for us.

School Community Council AGM

We are at that time of the year where we call for new members to join our School Community Council. It is a great way to support the school and rewarding at the same time. The Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 14th March, 7pm in the school office. At the Annual General Meeting, we will also be electing a new Board Chair person.

Welcome

A very warm welcome to Mr Brett Inch, Mrs Kath Derrick and Mrs Samantha Park.  Brett brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Secondary Teaching Team and we are excited to have him on board. Samantha will work with Kindergarten for 1/2 day per week supporting them in the classroom and 1/2 day per week working on school data. Samantha has been associated with the school for a long time now, fulfilling various teaching contracts. Kath started in the office this week and she has already hit the ground running with supporting the busy environment that a school front office experiences. We will welcome Paula Godde to the front office next Monday.

Take care,

Grant Haigh
