Dear St Anne's Community,
Welcome back! As always, it was nice to welcome students back to school for the start of a new term. Term 4 is always an exciting and busy term.
I was pleased to receive updated COVID-19 protocols at the end of last term, which will now allow us to run our Kindergarten and Year 7 Orientation programs. They will also permit us to hold Graduation ceremonies at the end of the year. Once we have worked out the finer details for each event, we will communicate this with you. Some events will need to be modified, to allow us to still hold them.
The Primary renovations are now complete and Kindergarten will move into their new classroom on Monday of next week. An official opening ceremony will take place in due course. Secondary renovations start Monday next week, with the Science room the first to be renovated. Food Tech and Wood/Metal rooms will be started around Week 6 of this term. The Science classes will now be held upstairs in the computer lab room.
We kindly request that you volunteer some time to help out at the Aviation Musuem this weekend or the Garden Viewing event the following weekend. They are both great opportunities for us to raise funds.
A big welcome to St Anne's to Charli Momot Year 7 and Amelia Baun Year 4 and their families. We are very happy to have them join us here.
Take care,
Grant Haigh
Congratulations are extended to the students who celebrated their First Reconciliation on 23rd September.
First Eucharist
The students in Year 4 have begun their preparation for First Eucharist and we keep them in our prayers. The families are of course encouraged to make a conscious effort to regularly attend weekend Masses especially during this preparation time. The candidates are reminded to enrol for the Sacrament if they are yet to do so. This can be done this Saturday 17th October at 6pm or alternatively Father has added one extra enrolment Mass the following weekend on Sunday 25th October at 10am. If these times still don’t suit please arrange to present your child at a weekday Mass or contact Fr Sijo directly to make alternate arrangements.
Details regarding the Retreat Day for First Eucharist will be sent home in the next few days.
Year 6 Retreat
Year 6 will be having a Retreat at school early this term. The email will be sent out to families of Year 6 students in the next few days once final details have been confirmed.
Year 10 Retreat Day
It was a privilege in the last week of Term 3 to be able to share the Year 10 Retreat day with our remarkable Year 10 students. It was a wonderful day of reflection, renewal, companionship and spiritual growth. I can’t begin to express how very impressed I was with the mature and reflective way in which the whole group embraced the opportunities and participated throughout the day. We are grateful to Mr Dennis Sleigh and to Mr Haigh who both led the students in activities and games and enjoyed sharing the day with them. We also express our gratitude to Fr Sijo who celebrated Reconciliation and Mass for us. Thank you also to Miss Jamieson for her organisation and to both Michelle and Louise Gaynor for preparing the evening meal for the group. It was a beautiful day which we took advantage of with some time spent out at the lake. A perfect way to enjoy each other’s company and connect with God. Thank you Year 10 for such a memorable day.
Now that Covid restrictions allow us to play inter school sport, below are the Primary sports that the school will participate in:

Notes for Milo Cricket, Trent Barrett Shield and Mortimer Shield will be sent home this week and must be returned ASAP.
Building Works
Primary renovations are now complete. Secondary renovations start Monday 19th October. The Science room will be renovated first. The builders fence and work office have been relocated to the basketball court area in preparation for the Secondary renovations.
Maintenance
John Goode has been busy over the holidays and we thank him for his painting skills. John has painted the hand rails, doors and door trims on the Years 1 and 2 building.
The other items of maintenance that have been completed are the safety trim for the stairs next to the food tech room, a new glass door for the Year 8 room and new basketball backboards and hoops for the infants area at the hall. We would also like to thank Liz Barrett in the office for her regular phone calls and liaison with trades and services across our maintenance needs.
Our school has volunteered to run the Mess Hall at the Aviation Museum this Sunday 18th October. It is a great fundraising opportunity for us. Shifts are 9am - 11am, 11am - 1pm and 1pm - 3pm. We are asking for anyone that can spare an hour or two to contact Margo Townsend on her mobile or contact the school office if you do not have her number. You don't need to be there for the full time and any help is appreciated.
