Dear St Anne's Community,
This will be our last newsletter for the year. I would like to thank Virginia Bent for all the work that she puts into preparing our newsletter, it is appreciated. I would also like to thank all of you for another great year. COVID has kept us on our toes again, but we have adapted and moved on with our daily business.
I am looking forward to our end of year Masses and Presentation assemblies. It will be great to have the opportunity to celebrate the positive points of 2021 as a community. Thank you in advance for your support around the COVID restrictions. We have listed all of the events in this newsletter and emailed them home to you. We will also send home a detailed invitation for each event that outlines more specific information.
Years 11 and 12 at St Anne's
Over the past couple of months, I have been meeting regularly with Catholic Education to explore the opportunity of introducing Years 11 and 12 at St Anne's, from 2023. They have been very positive meetings and the future looks bright. We hope to have more concrete directions and plans as the new year arrives. I would encourage any parents who would like to know more to please contact me for a chat.
School Reports
A reminder that Semester 2 reports will be sent home via Compass this term. You will receive a notification that they are available for viewing via the Compass Parent Portal on Monday afternoon, 13th December at 4pm. Please ensure that you have access to Compass. If you experience any difficulties, don't hesitate to contact the office for assistance.
Community Council
Our last Community Council meeting for the year is on Tuesday 7th December, 7pm at the school. You are very welcome to attend this meeting. I would like to thank the Community Council members for their time and effort this year.
School Fees
Careful consideration has been taken in reviewing the fees for 2022 to continue to support our school’s requirements, while keeping increases manageable and fair for families in the current economic environment. I can now advise you that our fees have increased an average of 3% which is below what the Catholic Education has recommended. We have provided more detailed information further along in this newsletter.
Departing Families
To our departing families, I thank you for placing your trust in St Anne's over the years and for the contribution you have made towards making St Anne's a great school. All the best to you and your families.
Staffing 2022
We are almost at the final stages of arranging staffing and teaching areas and we will let you know when that becomes clearer. Primary students will have the opportunity to meet their 2022 teacher and classroom next Wednesday afternoon. However, Year 2 and Year 5 students will not get to meet their new teacher at that time, as we are still finalising staffing in this area.
Student Leaders
Congratulations to all our elected student leaders. I look forward to working with you in the new year.
Raffle
Don't miss out on being a part of our raffle. There are some great prizes on offer. More details on Facebook or in this newsletter.
Cleaner
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Julieanne Gilchrist, our school cleaner. Julieanne finishes up with us at the end of the year and we wish her all the best for the future. Julieanne has been with St Anne's for over 20 years. Her position has been advertised for 2 weeks and it closes tomorrow. Please contact me if you would like any information about the position.
Take care,
Grant Haigh
Advent Prayer
We await your coming and with joyful hearts we pray:
Come Lord Jesus.
You come to bring us hope and courage:
Come Lord Jesus.
You come as a reflection of God’s love:
Come Lord Jesus.
You come to show us ways of compassion and mercy:
Come Lord Jesus.
We await your coming and with joyful hearts we pray:
Come, Lord Jesus.
O God, open our hearts to prepare the way for the coming of Christ. Guide us in your ways of compassion so that we may extend your love and mercy to all people.
Amen
Altar Server Training
A number of children have been busy with Altar server training. It is wonderful to have students who have made their First Eucharist from Year 4 (Judd, Harvey, Imogen, Matthias, Billy K) and 7 (Joseph) volunteering for this important role in the parish and school masses. It is wonderful that we can replenish and add to the small group of regular servers. The students have another practice arranged during the day tomorrow with Father Sijo. If your child is interested in becoming an Altar server and has not been involved please feel free to email me by the end of this week to be involved. The expectation is that each server would be placed on the weekend roster every few weeks. They will also be involved in serving during school masses. There will also be an Induction at an upcoming Mass for all of the new and existing servers who will be gifted with a badge to signify the important role that they have agreed to undertake. If you have any queries please feel free to contact Mrs Collins at jacqueline.collins@cg.catholic.edu.au
St Vincent de Paul Appeal
Thank you to the families who have remembered to bring in a financial donation to support the St Vincent de Paul Christmas appeal this year. Your support is greatly appreciated. We ask that you please return your family’s donation in an envelope to the school office by tomorrow morning as our Sharing Liturgy will be held first thing in the morning, where our donation will be given to a representative from St Vincent de Paul. We thank you in anticipation of your continued support of this wonderful local Catholic charity.
Christmas Eve Mass
The community event celebrated by the Parish on Christmas Eve requires interested volunteers who would like to become involved as either readers or part of the offertory procession to dress up as characters from the nativity scene. If your child is interested, please email Mrs Collins on behalf of the parish at jacqueline.collins@cg.catholic.edu.au and she will be in touch to confirm your child/ren’s role/s along with practice details during the holidays.
Spreading Some Christmas Cheer!
The Year 8 and 9 students have been busy preparing some dance moves to popular Christmas songs which they will perform for the residents of Narraburra Lodge next Thursday morning. Unfortunately we are unable to sing or enter the premises due to our current health restrictions, but we have found a compliant way to entertain the residents none-the-less. It is a wonderful display of the Christmas spirit and a real testament to the amazing students that we have, who have eagerly offered and tirelessly prepared to spread some Christmas cheer again this year.
Prepare reflectively for Christmas using the free online Walking Together Advent resource. Created by families for families, this home-grown Archdiocesan program will be made available in 4 instalments - one each week - including a 10 minute video and downloadable discussion/reflection questions. Use it whenever suits you, alone or in a small group. Or join a weekly zoom discussion group. |

Library Volunteers
A special THANK YOU to Morgan, Rahni, Zahara, Lily, Amelia and Layla (Year 6) who voluntarily gave up many of their lunch times throughout the year to volunteer in the Library. They were responsible for putting up and taking down many of the displays that make our Library so inviting, returning books to the shelves, sorting books, cleaning desks, dusting shelves and helping distribute Book Club orders. It’s wonderful to have such amazing people in our school.

It’s that time of year again when all library books need to be returned. All library books are due by Tuesday 7th December.

If you have lost/damaged your library book, a payment can be made through QKr!
Please contact Mrs Kite (Tuesday to Thursday) if you need to discuss a lost book.
