Dear St Anne's Community,
As Week 3 comes to a close, I would like to thank staff, students and parents for their continued support of the COVID restrictions. I believe that with the support of you all, we can continue to provide a safe learning environment for our students and a safe work environment for our staff. Please continue to notify the school if your child tests positive to COVID and they have been at school prior to testing positive. Sometimes there will be announcements made in the media about restrictions easing. At school, we cannot modify our restrictions until official word has been received from NSW Health, which is filtered through Catholic Schools NSW and our head office. I thank you for your patience with this.
Swimming Carnival
Thank you to Mr Hughes and Mr Tait for another successful carnival last week. Thank you to the staff, students and parents for an enjoyable day. Well done to Staff and Parents for winning the Staff/Parents v Students relay race.
School Community Council (SCC) - The Council’s role is to oversee the school finances, enrolments, building and maintenance, uniforms and to contribute to school policies. The Council meets every month for about an hour and there is not a huge commitment of time involved outside meeting times. If you are interested in joining the SCC please contact the office by phone or email office.stannes@cg.catholic.edu.au

Take care,

Ash Wednesday
This year the students will be celebrating Ash Wednesday in an outdoor liturgy at school. Families are still welcome to attend an Ash Wednesday Parish Mass at Sacred Heart Church at 7pm on 2nd March.
Shrove Tuesday
The students will receive a pancake again this year for Shrove Tuesday (the day before Ash Wednesday). These will be shared in line with covid protocols. If your child has a food allergy please be in touch with their class teacher to clarify whether they have special dietary requirements in this instance. Further details will be communicated in the coming days.
Project Compassion boxes
Project compassion boxes will be sent home shortly (in week 5) for the period of Lent. Please encourage your child to give generously to the project compassion appeal and then return their box with their donation back to school by the end of this term.
Altar servers
A reminder to please contact Mrs Collins via email or the office, if you would like your child to receive training to volunteer as an altar server. Any child who has received their First Eucharist in the Catholic Church is eligible to participate.
Sacrament of First Reconciliation
The students in Year 3 who are eligible to make the Sacrament of First Reconciliation will begin their preparation later this term. The Parent Information session will be held on Tuesday 15th March at 7pm. (Details will follow closer to the date once we can determine whether it will be a face to face or zoom meeting online). Any parent wishing for their baptised child to receive the Sacrament who is in Year 4 or above, is encouraged to contact Mrs Collins or the front office as soon as possible.
Secondary SRC Pool Party
Next Wednesday 23rd February the secondary students have their first SRC event for 2022. The theme is ‘Tropical’ - come dressed in your best Tropical clothing for some best dressed prizes. The $8 due to be paid on Compass by Monday 21st covers a sausage sizzle, drink and access to the water slide. The pool entry of $4 is to be paid upon entry or covered by a pool pass. Please support this great event held from 4- 6pm so that we can keep holding them for you!
Every Thursday morning, secondary students break off into their peer groups. Their groups are made up of students from Year 7 to Year 10. Year 10 students are the captains of the groups and this enables them to develop their leadership skills throughout the year. Sometimes the students will do activities within their own group and at other times they will compete against other groups. This morning students worked together to navigate their way through a maze.
