Shine Conference for Stage 5
The annual Shine gathering of Youth Ministry is for the Stage 5 students from Years 9 & 10 across the Archdiocese. We are sure that the students will embrace this opportunity to share with their peers for a day of Spiritual renewal, games, speakers, etc. The date for the event has been moved to Friday 28th October and is to be held at Merici College in Braddon, ACT. We are excited to be able to meet in person with students from across the Archdiocese once again this year.

Altar servers
Please be in touch if you and your child are interested in them being involved and training as an altar server. If your child has made their First Eucharist in the Catholic Church they are eligible to serve. It is a beautiful way to serve in the Church and a necessary job that requires as much support as possible. Please email jacqueline.collins@cg.catholic.edu.au to add your child’s name to the list.
This term in maths Kindergarten has been focused on some very tricky mental maths, such as friends of 10 and 20. They have also been looking at 2D Shapes and 3D objects.
Author Visit
Our Year 3 to 6 students met author and illustrator Sami Bayly this week. This was a fantastic opportunity for the students as they have been studying Sami Bayly and her books during their Library lessons. Sami spoke about her work as an author and illustrator, taught us how to draw a Common Jack Mackerel and the Tongue-biting Louse from her book “The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Peculiar Pairs in Nature”. Sami answered the many questions our students had prepared for her. Thank you to The Temora Shire Library for inviting us to listen to such an inspiring person.
Book Week
Students in K-6 are invited to dress up for Book Week on Thursday 25th August. Students are to wear their costume to school in preparation for a parade in the morning. Please ensure that your child is wearing suitable shoes for school. Our SRC students will run the parade and award prizes to the best costume in each class. Unfortunately, due to our current COVID restrictions parents and families members are unable to attend the parade this year.
Book Fair
Thank you for supporting the Scholastic Book Fair. You have helped raise $921.50 for our Library. Our students will be creating Wish Lists in their Library lessons later this term to purchase new books which they will be able to borrow from our Library.
Some students are still waiting on books which they ordered through the Book Fair. As soon as these arrive they will be distributed to students.

George Morton from St Anne’s Central travelled to Adelaide as part of the NSW Primary AFL team. The team participated in a three day training camp at Barooga during the last school holidays in preparation for five games in Adelaide last week. After a tough week against some powerhouse AFL states, George’s team were defeated by Western Australia 33-15, South Australia 49-15, Queensland 39-29 and Victoria 65-13 before defeating the ACT on the finals day 52-0.
George had a great week on the paddock, kicking two goals and one behind and receiving two player awards. In the four games where they were defeated, the NSW team was competitive until three quarter time, when the stronger states kicked away with bigger players taking their toll. Congratulations to George on this wonderful achievement.
St Anne’s had one team qualify for the final of the NSW Cup Netball competition in Wagga in Week 4. In tough going the team played five games, winning two and losing three. Once again the St Anne’s students played with great skill and displayed admirable sportsmanship. Thanks to Mrs Harris for coaching the team on the day.
The team was: Lani Summerfield (moral support, out with an injury), Claire Hartwig, Lani McCrone, Lana King, Lenny Guymer, Amber Haigh, Will Maxwell, Darcy Reardon, Livvy Blackwell and Ava Derrick.
