Dear St Anne's Community,
I hope that you are all well and looking forward to Showcase as much as I am.
COVID Restrictions
As of tomorrow, you are very welcome to enter school grounds for the purpose of delivering and picking up your children (morning and afternoon). You are also welcome to join our assemblies again. Any key events will be approached with a risk mitigation lense and measures put in place so that the potential for the spread of COVID is limited.
Showcase
I would like to thank Staff and Students for their preperation. It has been exciting to watch the various rehearsals and great to hear the hype that comes with such a big event for the students.
Infants Playground
The senior construction class have been busy building the new Cubby House for the infants playground. We look forward to the opening of this next term.
School Uniform Update
This week we received our uniform storyboard from Lowes. The storyboard is a visual representation of our uniform, which then needs to be approved before samples are sent out. As previously mentioned, we are not changing our uniform for K-10, only the supplier. We are, however, introducing new items for Years 11 and 12 (pictures below). The Uniform Committee are now looking over this storyboard before sending it back to Lowes. Millers are having a sale on our uniform and I encourage you to support them in the sale of their remaining stock. Please do not hesitate to contact the committee with any feedback.
Years 11&12 Uniform Pictures- Girls and Boys Summer shirt (bottom half same as 7-10). Boys and Girls Winter long sleeve shirt (bottom half same as 7-10). Boys and Girls Blazer and winter pullover.
Public Holiday & Pupil Free Day
As per the announcement made by Prime Minister Albanese, Thursday 22 September has been gazetted as a one-off public holiday a National Day of Mourning for the death of Queen Elizabeth II. All CECG schools and the Catholic Education Office will be closed on this day. Friday 23 September is a Pupil Free day for St Anne's, as part of the additional days granted to us by the Director to compensate for the additional workload that high staff absences can bring. Staff and I, continue to be grateful for your ongoing support to allow these days to occur.
Enrolments
We are looking very healthy in our 2023 Kindergarten, Year 7 and Year 11 numbers. If you know of anyone that is still unsure about where to send their child in any of the above year groups, please encourage them to contact me for a no-obligation tour of the school.
Years 11 & 12
Things are still progressing nicely behind the scenes. Study carrels have been ordered for the students to work at, furniture for their common room has been ordered and discussions are ongoing about the computer of choice for students. We have a number of Professional Development sessions booked for next term that will be delivered by a NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) officer to our Secondary staff.
Staffing
Currently, we have a number of positions advertised in the Years 7-12 space for 2023 and beyond. The job link can be found on our Facebook page and the Catholic Education Canberra/Goulburn Employment page. If you know of anyone, please encourage them to make contact with me for further information.
Community Council Meeting
Our next Community Council meeting will be held on Tuesday 11 October. This will be an open meeting for Parents to attend and ask any questions of the council members.
Secondary Trivia Night
Thank you to Mrs Collins and Mrs Tame for their work in organising the Trivia Night last night. Thank you to Miss Jamieson, Mrs Eberle, Mrs Holland, Mrs Gaynor and the students that attended as well. It was a fun night and the costumes were very impressive.
Year 10 Challenge
I had the pleasure of watching both afternoons of sport on Tuesday and Thursday this week. I would like to thank Mr Tait and Mr Hughes for organising the events and a massive congratulations to all our players. Both boys and girls teams played exceptionally well and I was very proud of all of them for stepping up to the challenge.
Attendance
We have a number of students displaying an increasing absence from school. This week and next, Mrs Holland will be sending out attendance letters to some parents that will outline our concerns in this area. While we understand that sickness has been difficult to control, we still need to make you aware of the number of absences and offer support if it is needed. Please contact Mrs Holland if we can help with your child's attendance in any way.
Excellent Attendance 95% and above | (e.g. 2.5 days absence or less in a term or 10 absences over a year) |
Regular Attendance 90%-94.9% | (e.g. 2.6 to 5 days absence in a term or 10.1 - 20 absences in a year) |
Emerging Absenteeism 80%-89.9% | (e.g. 5.1 to 10 days absence in a term or 20.1 - 40 absences in a year) |

Thank you to the SRC for the Secondary Trivia Night
What a fantastic night! It was great to see so many of the secondary students (46 in total) enjoying the hard work of their SRC to put on a wonderful night. The SRC’s games were a hoot and had us all laughing.
Special thanks to Mrs Tame for organising the Trivia questions and being an amazing compare. Thank you also to the staff who stayed to help with the BBQ, scoring/judging and supervision. We are very blessed to have such dedicated staff who are keen to help the students have the best experiences.
The effort with costumes was commendable, with the best dressed prizes going to Will Scott, Jasmin Cassidy and Angus Cooper. The best dressed class, who also had near perfect attendance were the Year 9 Eshays. One of the Year 9 teams also cleaned up as overall trivia winners for the night.
Congratulations to all of the prize winners for the games too.
