Dear St Anne's Community,
Congratulations to all of our newly elected School Captains, Prefects and House Captains. I look forward to working with this great group of students over the next twelve months. Please see an article further on in the newsletter, that explains our new Captains structure.
Stage 3 Excursion
This week, I have been attending the excursion to Melbourne and Ballarat. It is great that we have been able to commence these types of excursions again, as the students learn so much from the different experiences.
Cake Drive
Thank you to everyone that supported the recent CanAssist cake drive. The amount of money that was raised for this organisation is incredible. Well done to our staff and SRC for organising and our students for their input in making it such a success. "Never see a need without doing something about it" Mary MacKillop.
Important Dates
Friday 16th December- Last day of Term 4, 2022
Wednesday 1st February- First day of the 2023 school year
Enrolments
We continue to have a steady stream of new enrolments for next year. I look forward to welcoming the new families to St Anne's in the new year and introducing them to our community.
Playground
Recently, a representative from a playground equipment company attended St Anne's to provide a quote for new playground equipment. The recent fund raising will assist us in completing this project. The next step is to ask the students if they like the choice of equipment, or if they would like another style.
Take care,
Grant Haigh
Principal
Sharing Mass
Thank you to the families who have already returned their donation for next Tuesday morning’s Sharing Mass. We are proud that as a school we are able to support the St Vincent de Paul at this Mass each year. Please return envelopes to the school office by Monday morning 28th (or by Tuesday morning at the latest please). These will be presented to Mrs Holland on behalf of the local St Vincent de Paul chapter to distribute to needy families during this Christmas period. Thank you in advance for your generous support.
Christmas Mass Volunteers Required
A note was sent home recently requesting volunteers for this year’s Christmas Eve Parish Mass in the park. Your support would be greatly appreciated. All school aged children, including high school students, are invited to take part.
If you are interested in your child being involved could you please reply to Miss Anne Sleigh at amsleigh@gmail.com or on 0457 450 269.
Secondary Cake Drive Thank you
A Huge thank you from the SRC to all of the secondary students and some family members who supported the Secondary Cake Drive in such an impressive way by supplying home made baked goods. The SRC managed to raise over $4000 for CanAssist Temora through the school cake stall, cake auctions and the many business houses in town pre-ordering and purchasing trays of cakes. We will warmly welcome Mrs Lyn Hegarty to a special secondary assembly next Tuesday afternoon where she will be presented with the cheque for the local Temora branch of CanAssist on behalf of the school.
The Colour Run was an amazing success and once again we thank the hard working SRC who have been very busy supporting the school this semester. Thank you also to Year 10 for their support.

Last Friday Stage 2 travelled to Canberra for their annual excursion. After an early start students enjoyed a “technology free” trip chatting with their friends.
The bus arrived at the National Zoo and Aquarium at 10am and after a recess break, students were free to explore the aquarium. At 11am each class went their separate way with a guide each to tour the zoo, taking in many animals with interesting facts and details about animals with a focus on the status of endangered or threatened animals.
After lunch at the zoo the bus travelled to Questacon for an amazing afternoon of science based learning and interacting with many themed science and technology areas, including space, electricity, forces, robotics and the highlight of the trip for many was the free fall slide that most students experienced. After tea at Macca’s the students arrived home at 7pm, tired but still buzzing from a very exciting day. All students are to be congratulated on their fantastic behaviour.
This week is the last week students will be able to borrow books from the Library.
All Library books are due back at school by the 1st December.
Overdue notices will be sent to students and families by email.
If a book is lost, students are encouraged to check the Library to see if it has mysteriously shown up. There is a lost book fee of $20 which can be paid via the QKR! app.
Book Club
Issue #8 of the Scholastic Book Club has been sent home. Orders are due by Tuesday 29th November. A reminder that all payments are to be made online.

The dog liked to go for walks
It would stop and have a talk
Its favourite thing to do was a swirl
National Athletics Title for Grace McCrone
Grace McCrone and her family travelled to Brisbane to compete in the National Athletics championships last week.
After a week of attendance at the meet and preparation in Brisbane, Grace finally got to compete in the under 10 high Jump Sunday evening, and what a result!! Grace jumped 1.31m to win gold in her event. This jump eclipsed her previous best of 1.25m, an amazing effort and a credit to Grace and her family and uncle Greg who have trained her to a very high standard.
Grace was welcomed back to school yesterday with a mini “ticker tape” parade by her very proud schoolmates and staff.
Congratulations Grace-2032 Olympics, here you come!!!
A reminder that trials for 2023 Primary (Year 5/6 students) touch footy 7th December, basketball and tennis 2nd December, will take place in Canberra. these are selection trials for Canberra-Goulburn teams and students must be of a suitable standard to be considered. Parents are responsible for taking their child to trial.
AFL trials in Term 1 next year have been moved back to 21st February. Nominations will be called for this trial early in Term 1 2023. Please note these trials are in Wollongong.
It is hoped that swimming may resume in the final 2-3 weeks of this term, depending on the completion of the pool upgrade.
