Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope that you are all well. This will be our last newsletter for the term and I thank you all for another great term. I continue to be appreciative of the great Teaching and Learning that is happening in our school.
Modular Learning Spaces (Demountable Classrooms)
Recently, I met with Catholic Education representatives to find a suitable location for two Modular Learning Spaces. There is a possibility that they could arrive as early as the next set of school holidays. The location we have selected is for them to be placed in an L shape near the Church. It will take some of the play space from the infants, so we are looking at Year 1 being allowed to go over to Fr.Hannan oval at break time to compensate for this. We will also look at a Teacher's Aide supporting them over at the oval.
The Resilience Project
It was great to attend the launch of The Resilience Project at the town hall last week. We are looking forward to some staff professional learning on this next term. If you would like more information about this program please go to this link: The Resilience Project
Stage 5 Electives Night
Last night, we held our 2024 Stage 5 Electives night. It was a very well attended event with our hall packed to the brim. Thank you to the parents and students that attended and also to all of our teachers for the work they put into the evening. The exciting new courses on offer next year in Years 9/10 are; Certificate II in Agriculture, Certificate II in Manafacturing and Engineering, Industrial Technology- Automotives and Photographic and Digital Media. We are blessed to have such qualified teachers as part of our team.
School Supervision Times
We kindly request that students do not enter school grounds before 8:30am of a morning. Students are not allowed on school grounds unless they are supervised by a teacher. Thank you in advance for your support.
Student Pick up and Drop off
It is important that students are dropped off and picked up at Joey's Hall on Loftus St of a morning and afternoon. It is too dangerous to have students leaving via DeBoos St, due to the buses arriving and departing.
School Uniform
Virginia Bent and I met with the Lowes School Uniform representative yesterday. Lowes now stock our complete range of uniform. Their website has clearly labelled items, making it easier to navigate to the correct uniform you are looking for. Lowes will be depositing a quarterly rebate of $1200 into our school account for purchases made, plus they will be giving us $200 in Lowes gift cards. We also visited Millers here in town and gave them an update on our uniform. I am very thankful for their support during this transition period. Millers will not be ordering any items of clothing in with our logo on it anymore, but they do still have some sizes left in stock.
Name change
As per the letter I sent to you on 31/8 regarding the change of name for the school. I am pleased to inform you that the Catholic Education Commission has approved our school name change from St Anne’s Central School to St Anne’s Catholic College. This is an exciting and historic time for St Anne’s and I look forward to communicating our plans with you, on how we will mark this significant occasion.
Take care,
Grant Haigh
Principal

Explanation
This picture signifies how a simple act of kindness can brighten someone's day, or even life. Catherine McAuley revolved her life around helping those in need. Whenever she saw someone that needed help, she took initiative and gave them the help they deserved. In this picture it shows a lady giving a heart to someone that is struggling and needs help. By being kind and helping other people, it can make them a happier person, as well as it can make you a happier person. |
Elizabeth Seton Rap My name is Elizabeth Seton, I'm Christian, what would you do in my position Yes I am the founder of the first catholic school ay, because I'm not a fool Yes there is more ‘cause I cared for the sick, they all call me the best chick! I was very thoughtful always putting myself in people’s shoes, giving them no clues I Started the sisters of charity which was the first in the United States, ay, which would open their gates. I help people by opening the door, oh wait I was educating the poor starting to get a bit of fame, but this ain't a game. What word is the same but different to exclusive, that's right it is inclusive. And that was me, yes I was inclusive helping all these kids, I fed and clothed them helping them to live, that sounds pretty affirma-tive. Always putting people before herself no matter what, with all these kids getting themselves in a knot. I'm told to untangle because I knew Nano Nagle And that's a wrap from me, because this is for you to see Always remember to help who you can, then I'll be your biggest fan |

There were plenty of laughs along the way and both sides competed in the spirit of the event.
