Dear St Anne's Community,
Thank you for a great term. I have seen some great teaching and learning occurring right across the school and I hope that students enjoy their holiday break. I thank staff for their efforts this term. Term 1 is always a busy term as we settle in for the school year.
Staffing
Next term, we will welcome Miss Jordan Barrett to teaching duties on Year 1, as a fulltime replacement for Bianca Matthews. I look forward to having Jordan on our staff. We say goodbye to Bianca tomorrow and thank her for her dedication to Year 1 this year and Year 2 classes in previous years. Her dedication to delivering the best possible outcomes for the students in her class is greatly appreciated and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
Mrs Sarah Overs will start her maternity leave next week. We wish her all the best with her pregnancy and look forward to welcoming her back towards the end of the year. Mrs Kim Irving will be her replacement for terms 2 and 3. I look forward to having Kim on our staff.
Mrs Lauren Diggins will start her maternity leave next week. We wish her all the best with her pregnancy and look forward to welcoming her back next year. We have made some minor internal changes to secondary class cover and will be able communicate this in more detail before term 2 starts. We currently have a maths teacher position advertised; however, we are still very well supported by Mrs Taylor, Mr Inch and Miss Jamieson, who are covering the classes.
Mrs Bridgitt Eberle's maternity leave replacement will hopefully be announced at the start of next term.
School Community Council
I would like to thank the two latest members to join our community council; Caroline Tait and Carly Bickham. Our community council is now closed for membership; with the standard term of office being a two year period. If a position becomes vacant, we will call for nominees and host an election. The next meeting is Week 3 Term 2, Tuesday 7pm.
Parent/Teacher Interviews
Thank you to everyone that was able to make it to the interviews this week. We hope that you were able to gather some feedback that will allow your child to progress in their learning. Your ongoing partnership is important to us.
Long Lunch Fundraiser
Thank you to everyone that supported this event. We were able to raise $2376.60, which will go towards improving the seating options in the playground.
Playground Equipment
We will soon receive our long awaited playground equipment, which was purchased through a government grant last year. There are 5 small pieces of equipment, which are likely to be placed under the trees at Fr. Hannan Oval. I look forward to showing you the finished product and seeing the enjoyment that it will provide the students.
Take care,
Grant Haigh

Canberra Goulburn Soccer Trials
Secondary Canberra Goulburn Netball Carnival & Trials
Our Secondary girls had an amazing day at the Canberra Goulburn Netball Carnival.
Four teams competed in the event with all teams representing strongly. The 7/8 and 9/10 Red sides went down in close matches against McAuley Catholic College in the Grand Finals, both having their only loss for the day. A fantastic achievement for the girls.
The 7/8 and 9/10 Blue teams played with heart and made it through to the pool finals. It is a good indication of the strength of netball we have at our school.
The event also doubled as a selection trial for the U15 Canberra Goulburn side that will go on to compete at the NSWCCC trials next term. St Anne's was well represented with 4 students playing in the possibles vs probables match.
Congratulations to Lana King, Lani McCrone and Ruby Prentice who were selected in the U15s Canberra Goulburn Netball team to play at the NSWCCC Trials in Sydney on 8th May. We wish Lana, Lani and Ruby the best of luck.
NSWCCC Secondary Touch Football Trials
We had two students Rommy Wilesmith (Yr 10) in U18s and Lani McCrone (Yr 8) in U15s, Trial at the recent NSWCCC Touch tournament in Tuggerah.
Rommy's U18s team had some close games winning 1 out of the 4 games.
Lani's U15s team had 3 wins and 1 draw which saw them finish top of them pool and advance through to the Grand Final which they won.
Congratulations girls!
Research & Benefits of Emotional Literacy
Today’s presentation from TRP is all about Emotional Literacy. Emotional Literacy is being able to recognise and label your feelings and emotions as they happen.
Working on our emotional literacy gives us opportunities to develop our ability to understand and express different emotions.
When we improve our emotional literacy, we can work towards recognising our own feelings and our ability to manage them. This allows us to cope with different life situations, such as managing conflict, making friends, coping in difficult situations and being resilient when dealing with change.
Congratulations to Harvey Drumore on winning the Secondary Western Division of the Michael McCormack ANZAC Day writing competition with his piece ' A Nations Burden'
