Dear parents and carers,
Thank you for your participation in the Parent and Teacher Meetings this week. We trust that parents, students and teachers found this opportunity to discuss the student’s progress and experiences at school helpful and constructive. If you were unable to attend, please do contact teachers and we can schedule alternate appointments. Whilst Parent and Teacher Meetings are scheduled in the school calendar, please always remember that we are available at any time should there be anything parents would like to discuss. The Office can be contacted to schedule appointments, thanks!
Open Day at St Anne’s
It was great to welcome prospective families to the College last week for Open Day. Conducting tours of St Anne’s is a pleasure, and the positive culture, neat and orderly environment and engaged students always impress our visitors.
Enrolments are now open for 2026 and families with siblings due to commence school are encouraged to enrol as soon as possible. Parents and those with friends interested in learning about St Anne’s can contact us at any time to book a tour or an appointment.
This week, the School Captains, Lillian and Joseph and I enjoyed a visit to St Mary’s at West Wyalong where we met the Year 5 and 6 students and parents. The K-12 pathway we offer at St Anne’s is also available to the St Mary’s West Wyalong students, and we look forward to welcoming the Year 6 students for the Year 7 Taster Day on Tuesday 8th April.
If you, or anyone you know may be interested in having their child join the year 7 Taster Day, please register by calling the Office. All are welcome!

“Your values determine how you lead.” – Lily
“Leadership is your ability to influence people’s actions and decisions’” – Ahlia
“We, not me.” – Harvey
“Leadership is about finding people who are not so confident and bringing them up.” – Rommy
“Everyone can be a leader.” – Bradley
“Ten seconds of confidence can determine how anything goes.” Morgan

First Holy Communion
Sacred Heart parishioners and St Anne’s families enjoyed a very special Mass on Sunday for the children’s First Holy Communion. Fr Alex celebrated this most important Mass in the children’s spiritual journey beautifully. Mrs Louise Gaynor and Fr Alex have been supporting the children in their preparation program which culminated with a retreat day on Friday. Throughout this process, the children have had opportunities to deepen their faith, strengthen their connection with God, and they have now been welcomed into the fullness of the Catholic community.

Mrs Kim Irving has stepped in to help when St Anne’s had needed her most on numerous occasions and term 1 2025 was no exception. Year 3 students and parents join me in expressing our gratitude to Kim for stepping in to be Year 3 teacher at very short notice and for giving the students a smooth and effective transition to the primary years. Kim has been extremely dedicated to this role and it has been great to have her on the team.

First Eucharist
Last Sunday 30th March many of our Year 4 students celebrated their First Eucharist, in the Sacred Heart Parish, Temora. This was a very special day for these students and their fellow classmates, who have all been working together to prepare the candidates for this special day. The students have been very conscientious and faithful in their preparation for this day. They have worked well in their classrooms and participated beautifully in a retreat day on the Friday before First Eucharist, where we focused on Jesus’ last supper with his disciples. Sunday was a beautiful day for the students to share their First Eucharist around the table of the Lord, with their extended family of the Sacred Heart Community. Students are to be congratulated on their conduct and the spirit and reverence which they displayed on the day.
Thank you to all parents and teachers - Mrs Holland, Mrs Dickason, Mrs Collins, Mr Gaynor and Mrs Grant - for your help in preparing students and for your support on Sunday.
Passion Play
You are warmly invited to join the students from Stage 5 for the Passion Play on the last day of term Thursday 10th April at 2:30pm in our Sacred Heart Parish Church. Stage 5 will be presenting the Passion and are doing a remarkable job preparing.

Year 9 Western Region Retreat in Temora
The date for the Year 9 Western Region Retreat is 27th May.
Students will receive further details in the near future. It is a great opportunity to bring together our students with those from Sacred Heart Cootamundra and McAuley Catholic College Tumut.
Anzac Day Liturgy
Anzac Day this year will fall in the school holidays. On Wednesday 9th April at 9.00am we will have a short Liturgy in the Church, to remember this special day and the sacrifice of many.
The library is in the process of replacing some books. We need space for the new books, so we are giving some away to charity. These books are in good condition but are just not being borrowed, or we have multiple copies of them. We would prefer them to be out in the community and getting read.
Before we do this we invite any of our students to look through the books and take some home if they like.
Next week we will have some boxes of books in the library for students to pick through. The bar codes and school stamp will have a line through them so you don't get confused with books that are borrowed and books that can stay at home.
IN THE CLASSROOM WITH KINDERGARTEN
Kinder have been working on gratitude in the classroom and the playground. In particular looking at friendships and friendships I am grateful for.
Kinder spoke about what makes a good friend and how they can also be a good friend. They went through some different scenarios to help recognise what being a good friend looks like. Being a good friend is not about what people have, look like or are good at, it is all about what they do and how they make others feel. These are called strengths and qualities. Friends can like different things and have different personalities, but still be kind, caring and helpful to each other. It was great to see them get right into the lesson and hear their own shares on the qualities and strengths, that they think makes a good friend.

This week Kinder also had a ‘Take it home activity’ followed on from the lesson, which they can share with family and friends at home.
In the Playground with Infants
On Wednesdays at recess, the Infants kids have an opportunity to join in on some interactive games and outdoor activities. It is a real treat for them to listen to music, whilst creating, colouring and playing in the playground. This playtime brings a real connection with the kids, having some different outdoor play. There is kind of a sense of calm with the kids but lots of fun at the same time. We use the recycled cardboard boxes to create different objects and use them for art which is a real treat for them to take home proud of their creations. Wednesday recess can never come quick enough!

Term 1
Week 9
Year 12 University Early Entry:
Year 12 have been learning about and investigating Early Entry options and how to apply. The first step for current Year 12 students is to narrow down and decide on the courses they wish to apply for and at which institutions.
What is early entry?
Some universities and Tertiary Admissions Centres (TACs) have programs in place that allow them to process applications for specific programs that allow offers to be issued before the main rounds begin after the academic year is over. By applying for one of these programs, students could receive an offer earlier than if they apply through the normal process.
It’s a way to give you some peace of mind knowing you have a place secured at university next year and one less thing to stress about during exam time.
Who is eligible to apply for early entry?
Each program has it’s own eligibility criteria, but here are some of the most common:
- Academic achievement
- Community involvement, e.g. volunteering
- Leadership roles, e.g. school leader, team captain
- Disadvantage – consideration of factors that may have cause challenges to your studies during your final years e.g. financial, social, or physical
