ICT and BYOD

K-2 Students are provided with school purchased 1-1 IPad access in class. 

3-6 Students are provided with school purchased 1-1 Chromebook (laptop) access in class. 

7-10 Students provide their own Chromebook as per the information below. 

WHAT IS BYOD?

“Bring your own device (BYOD) refers to technology models where students bring a personally owned device to school for the purpose of learning. A personally owned device is any technology device brought into the school and owned by a student (or the student’s family), staff or guests”. (Alberta Education, 2012)

Our Secondary BYOD program is designed to give students and staff the best platform to engage with and ensure a smooth and succinct teaching and learning experience. We provide the specifications, which we recommend to meet the requirements of the work being done at the school, as well as at home. 

WHAT TYPE OF DEVICE CAN A STUDENT BRING?

A Chromebook is the only device that we work with at St Anne's. Please see specification sheet below, for more details.

The school does not manage the computer or provide warranty services for any device used as part of the BYOD programme.

It is recommended that you purchase Insurance for your device.

Before using the device at the school, parents and students both need to sign the Acceptable Use Policy.

This policy outlines all expectations and rules associated with the use of technology at the school.

Every student at St Anne's Central School is expected to bring their own device to school each day and ensure it is charged and ready for use.
